Wahlburger-Style Bacon Jalapeño BBQ Cheeseburger
Recipe ingredients:
- 1½ lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
- Kosher salt & freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- 8 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked until crispy
- 2 fresh jalapeños, thinly sliced
- 1 ripe avocado, sliced
- ½ cup BBQ sauce
- 1 tbsp butter or oil, for the pan
Recipe details:
Serves: 4
Total time: 30 minutes
Recipe step out:
- Form the patties:
Divide beef into 4 equal portions, 6 oz each, and gently form into patties slightly wider than the buns (they’ll shrink as they cook). Press a small dimple in the center of each to keep them from puffing up. Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides. - Cook the burgers:
Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle to medium-high. Add a bit of butter or oil. Sear the patties for about 3–4 minutes per side, depending on desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, add a slice of American cheese to each patty and cover briefly to melt. - Assemble:
Spread BBQ sauce on both the top and bottom buns.
Layer: bottom bun → cheesy patty → avocado → slices bacon → jalapeños → extra drizzle of BBQ sauce → top bun. Enjoy!
